Theatrical Roller Derby
If you’re thinking about checking out the Fringe Festival that’s keeping the Inglewood community abuzz, then you should know about the one-woman show called Roller Derby Saved My Soul. This performance is sure to make laugh as you get to know a shy girl who finds her true passion in the highly competitive and often questionable sport of roller derby. You can catch RDSMS at the Alexandra Centre Society, located at 922 9th Avenue SE on August 9th at 3pm. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance here.

Project 12
If you’re looking for something totally different to do on a Sunday afternoon, then consider attending Project 12. On August 10th, the National Music Centre is hosting a cool event that showcases 10 talented artists performing songs they’ve written. What’s the catch? The songs have been put together in only seven days and each artist has to perform using the same guitar. Tickets are $25 and the event will begin at 3pm (134 11th Ave SE). For tickets, click here.

Midtown Celebration
This Kensington eatery is celebrating one great year of being open on August 11th and will be an opportunity to enjoy canapés, do a little mingling, and even give you a chance to win a cruiser bike. Village Brewery will also be tapping a special cask to help with the festivities. Midtown Restaurant is located at 302 10th Avenue NW; if you plan to attend, simply RSVP to Katy@bondpr.ca.

Reggae Fest
There has been no shortage of stellar summer festivals happening in the last few weeks and here’s one more for your calendar: Reggae Fest. From August 14th to 16th you can get your groove on with Jamaican-inspired tunes at Shaw Millennium Park. This year you can catch groups like Infiniti, Mountain Edge Roots & Culture Band, Raging Fyah, Exco Levi and Long Shen Dao. If you’re going to be in town, this is one way to ensure you get to experience the maximum amount of mellow within city limits. For tickets or more artist details, click here.

Call for Artists
Papergirl Calgary is back and the organization is putting a the call out for submissions. From August 27th to 29th, selected art works will be displayed at the EPCOR Centre. This fun event is focused on making art accessible to all so once the exhibition is over, a series of art fans on bikes will roll around downtown delivering art to unsuspecting people as a gift to take home. If you’re blessed with artistic inclinations you can enter your finest prints, drawings and paintings to be part of the 2014 exhibition. There is no charge to submit your pieces; just remember that each piece needs to roll up. For more information and deadlines, click here.

This high-class affair is a fun opportunity for you and your friends to get done up in all white while enjoying an incredible meal in a location that will be kept secret right up until the event happens.
