Now Open: Actinolite
The owners have some exceptional cred (both were consultants on the latest season of Top Chef Canada) and Ossington’s a hot strip right now. Actinolite opened last week at 971 Ossington Avenue, serving up a small but refined menu of five apps and five main dishes. It’s homey but classy, and the food is a reflection of seasonal influences.

TOMS Footwear’s 5th Annual One Day Without Shoes is asking you to go barefoot April 10th, to help raise awareness for those children around the world whose families are unable to provide the basic necessity of a pair of shoes, and the impact that has on a child’s life. Find a TOMS event in your area on the 10th, get involved, and go barefoot to show your support.

La Carnita’s UNO Art Show
Featuring 22 renowned international street artists, five hot DJs, and La Carnita’s superb Mexican street food, the UNO Art Show will be an artsy food fair come April 13th. Head over to Brick Works to grab one of LC’s famed taquitos, and peruse a collection of original works by some masterful artists, all the while listening to some slick DJ beats.

DefineTO at the Fifth
DefineTO is a movement that asks you be the exception, not the rule, and there’s no better way for the organization to gain ground and inspire a new generation of thought-leaders and innovators than with a stellar event on April 12th at the Fifth Social Club. Proceeds raised from the night will support The Remix Project.

REELWORLD Film Festival
The REELWORLD Film Festival is back April 11th to the 15th, featuring diverse films at various venues across the city. Started in 2001, REELWORLD seeks to provide a forum for filmmakers and emerging talent of colour trying to break into the Canadian entertainment industry. Watch features, docs, shorts, and music videos from diverse backgrounds during this year’s fest.
