Notable Holiday Albums

The Biebs isn’t the only one getting into the holiday spirit this year – with his album Under the Mistletoe. Michael Bublé, the Glee cast, and even rapper Ginuwine are all jumping on the Christmas album bandwagon for 2011; no doubt we can expect some notable festive tunes this holiday season. Check out our list of the hottest albums for the 2011 holiday season…

Under the Mistletoe by Justin Bieber
This ‘R&B’-heavy (R&B is in quotes because, well, it’s Bieber after all) album is bound be a popular stocking stuffer for Bieliebers and the like this season. The album features an exciting mix of original cuts and holiday classics, as well as collaborations with Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, Usher, and The Band Perry. (Released November 1st.)

Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album Vol. 2
After a highly successful Christmas album last year, Glee has decided to come back to compete in the race for the Christmas No. 1. Among the highlights of this year’s album are: Mercedes/Amber Riley belting out a stellar All I Want for Christmas is You and Artie/Kevin McHale doing a rendition of the traditional Little Drummer Boy. (Released today.)

Christmas by Michael Bublé
Michael Bublé has released holiday albums before (2003’s Let It Snow and 2010’s A Holiday Gift for You) but this year’s is set to be the best yet. Christmas features an array of classic hits like Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Holly Jolly Christmas, and it’s sure to be a big contender for the Christmas No. 1 spot. (Released October 24th.)

A Ginuwine Christmas by Ginuwine
Veteran R&Bster Ginuwine manages to put his own contemporary twist on some classic Christmas tunes in this album. A Ginuwine Christmas includes covers of Silent Night and Joy to the World. (Released October 11th.)

A Very She and Him Christmas by She and Him
This album is a collection of holiday tunes from Zooey Deschanel (She) and M. Ward (Him) and it takes its inspiration from seminal holiday albums by artists like The Carpenters and The Beach Boys. Some of the covers include Blue Christmas, I’ll Be Home Christmas, and the fitting Beach Boys tune Little Saint Nick. (Released October 25th.)

A Holiday Carole by Carole King
Carole King has been on the music scene for decades, but she just recently dipped her feet into the world of holiday albums with A Holiday Carole. The record, produced by her daughter Louise Goffin, features traditional songs like Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Sleigh Ride coupled with an array of original holiday songs. (Released October 11th.)
