Summer in Calgary is obviously one of our favourite times of year. (Why is it only three short months long?) Along with warm weather, the promise of getting our tan on, and after-work patio hopping, we get to enjoy some amazing fests and events. Check out three notable happenings this weekend in Calgary…
Calgary Folk Music Festival – July 22nd to 24th
Step off the edge of Calgary’s concrete jungle and feel the grass beneath your toes, hang with your friends and neighbours, and be reminded about what it means to be alive and connected.
See and hear 68 artists from 14 countries on seven stages. Visit the interactive family area, browse at the original tree-shaded artisan market, sample some cuisine from the global village, and share a beverage with your tribe in the beer garden. Make some music in Bin 15 and see some original theatre at the BIOBOXES.
Fiestaval – July 23rd and 24th
A two-day free multicultural arts and entertainment festival highlighting Latin American Culture. It’s an opportunity to support Calgary’s Latin community while encouraging multiculturalism among all Calgarians. Central to its distinction is that Fiestaval is a free, family-oriented alternative for celebrating multicultural arts and entertainment in Calgary.
Kensington Sun and Salsa Fest – July 24th
Start with tomatoes, add garlic and hot peppers, and garnish with cilantro! Set fire to those taste buds during Kensington’s 18th annual Sun and Salsa Festival.
Participate in the Salsa Tasting Contest as Kensington businesses serve up over 500 gallons of 40 different salsas. You get to be the judge of which is the finest!
Check out Kensington retails, restaurants, and pubs, or peruse the multitude of vendors selling a variety of products and services for the day. Enjoy the music and entertainment on seven live entertainment stages throughout the neighbourhood.
