Notable Guide to VELD 2013

We’re but a few short days away from the EDM fete that is VELD Music Festival. This annual shindig of electronic ecstasy takes over Downsview Park this long weekend, offering up almost three dozen acts over two days and two stages. Who are the top draws to catch? Read on to find out…

Deadmau5
Naturally, we’ll be catching Deadmau5, who for all intents and purposes is a hometown boy. The masked man will be taking to the fest’s main stage on day two, ready to pump out his trademark rhythms for the fist-bumpers in the field.

Danny Tenaglia
This fella’s got a cult following if ever we’ve seen one, even being cited as an EDM God amongst his many followers. That’s enough of a reason for us to bounce to the Bacardi Tent on day two of VELD to catch his sly beats.

Kaskade
Don’t let his I’m-a-good-boy looks fool you, Kaskade is a badass baron of beats. He’s a versatile producer, spinner, and creator, and we can’t wait to hear his set on day one at the main stage.

Steve Aoki
He’s remixed tunes by the likes of Jackson 5, Drake, Kanye West, Eminem, Lil Wayne, The Killers, Lenny Kravitz, Bloc Party, Snoop Dogg, and Robin Thicke to name just a few. Need we give more reason to catch this wiry-haired mega-DJ? We think not!

Dada Life
They’re Swedes – which means they’re of one of the top DJ producing nations. They let loose large inflatables during their live shows – like bananas and champagne bottles. And they’re high energy like nobody’s bidnass. Yeah, we’ll be checkin’ ’em out at VELD.
