Notable Cause: One Drop at Cirque Du Soleil’s Big Top

There are a countless number of worthy causes and charitable social gatherings going on around town these days, but one in particular recently caught our eye: One Drop.

This noteworthy endeavour is the initiative of Cirque Du Soleil Founder Guy Laliberté, who (alongside a team of devoted supporters) has developed a top-notch, exclusive benefit for his organization, One Drop, that helps provide access to safe drinking water throughout the developing world.

Laliberté has championed this cause (established in 2007) to such an impressive degree that not one dime (or in this case, ‘drop’) of funds raised falls into the bureaucratic cracks – as is the case for other well-intentioned non-profits. Instead, One Drop funds raised go directly to the cause, as Laliberté pays for all administrative and organizational fees separately.

To celebrate the official Vancouver launch of Cirque Du Soleil’s latest stage spectacle. Amaluna, as well as commemorate the first-ever One Drop event on the west coast, guests of this notable event will be privy to a first-hand glimpse alongside some of the city’s finest philanthropists and VIPs.

It all takes place under the Big Top on November 23rd at Concord Pacific Place with an exclusive after-show set to happen at the Tapis Rouge Suite, courtesy of Whistler’s own Bearfoot Bistro. Guests will then be privy to plenty of food and wine samplings featuring the fixings of YVR’s top restaurants (we heard word that CinCin, Hawksworth, Vij’s will be prepping quite a feast).  We’re sure there will be plenty of champagne to help wash it all down.

For those young professionals lucky enough to have been invited to join a corporate table (packages start at $10,000), or who have opted to go solo (a limited number of tickets are available by visiting here), it’s guaranteed to be one memorable night fuelled with serious networking and giving back to a great cause.

If it’s not quite in your YP budget to attend this event and you wish to learn more about One Drop, visit www.onedrop.org and see how you can get involved with this noteworthy cause.
