New Year’s Eve Style Guide

Whether it’s a champagne fountain black tie affair, a trendy downtown club dancing 2012 away or a humble house party surrounded by the best of friends, don’t forget to step into 2013 in style.

The House Party:

Just because you’ll be celebrating in comfortable surroundings does not mean you get slack off in the wardrobe department. I mean you didn’t really think I would let you step out in Lululemon, did you?

Ladies, the house party can be a tricky one for footwear with the snow covered ground, therefore be sure to take a pair of indoor heels with you. Best to ask your host if a pair of cute sequin flats are preferred if the event is a ‘no heels on the hardwood’ situation.

Pair skinny tuxedo jeans with a sequin top or another variety with plenty of personality and don’t forget to accessorize.

Gentlemen, pair a playful dress shirt with comfortable slacks and sweater for layering. Sharpen your casual ensemble by adding a scarf and belt into the mix.

The Club:

Let’s all ensure we have our dancing shoes on and plenty of layers to keep the winter chill at bay from curb to cab. This is the fun eccentric outfit; let your alter ego shine, it surely doesn’t get out enough.

Ladies, its December therefore DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT, run around town with bare legs. Put on opaque nylons with dresses, skirts and shorts, end of story. You live in Canada, not California.

Gentlemen, you know you love a good velvet blazer, so why not pair the luxe piece with a black slim fitting pant, a vest and a cool tie. You’re sure to look most coquettish.

The Gala:

This is the opportunity to display your uncanny sophistication with your wardrobe. Diamonds, furs, you name it, dust them off and put them on display.

Ladies, this is the outfit you will take the rooms breath away with. Keep is simple and classic. Add a little edge with a pop of colour or rhinestone skull details by the likes of Alexander McQueen as seen below.

Gentlemen, show the boys how real men dress. display your dapper disposition in a tuxedo paired with charming elements such as the black buttons on this tuxedo shirt and gold cufflinks paired with black onyx surrounded by diamonds.
