It’s coming.
Whether you like it or not, the Eglinton Line will be picking you up at some point in the near future (2021, if they’re on time). It’s just the name of the station you’ll be waiting at that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Well, until now.
In a summary report for an upcoming board meeting on November 23rd, the TTC’s CEO has released all proposed names for the new Eglinton Line with the following statement:
Metrolinx is building Line 5 Eglinton LRT (Eglinton Crosstown). At this stage of the project, names are required for each of the stations and stops. TTC staff have worked with Metrolinx to establish a framework for selecting proposed names. The proposed names follow core principles for optimum wayfinding – they are; simple, logical, durable, self-locating and unique.
The suggested names for the stations are the following:

With the suggestion that the TTC board both “Approve keeping Eglinton Station and Kennedy Station as integrated station names” and “approve that the proposed name for Eglinton West integrated station be changed to either: A) Allen; or B) Cedarvale.”
Considering people have irrationally strong opinions about what celebrities name their kids, we can only assume that with 25 new station names up for grabs, at least a few people are going to take issue some of the proposed suggestions.
