One company has just given the world a glimpse into the future of men’s apparel.
Their discovery? Men’s clothing that is not only self-cleaning, but stain and odour preventable. Which is perfect for every guy you know that despises washing his jeans (which is most likely every guy you know).
According to the company’s Kickstarter page, the jeans can repel red wine, water, honey, coffee, and various other liquids.
It appears that men are intrigued by this concept (or the women in the lives of messy men are) because these self-cleaning jeans by ODO denim have already surpassed their $10,000 funding goal on Kickstarter by 10x – having already raised more than $131,000 in their first week.
The company’s promise of the jeans being self-cleaning and stain resistant is possible because ODO denim has an engineered surface that features millions of microscopic peaks which reduce the contact area between the denim and whatever you spill on it. This means that adhesion is significantly reduced and potential stains simply roll off or can be rinsed off with water.
To prevent odour, the denim and clothing is woven with silver-infused thread that kills odour-causing bacteria, which is a result of sweat.
But most importantly, ODO is designing jeans that are not only extremely comfortable – coming in a flattering cut and a number of washes – but they are eco-friendly too.
