Need a New Friend in Toronto? No Problem

Finding new friends once you’ve graduated from college ain’t easy.

Maybe it has something to do with no longer all living on the same floor – but in Toronto, where everyone seems to have their clique solidified by the time they’re 18, and making eye contact with anyone you don’t know is considered super creepy – it can be extremely hard.

Hence, Yes New Friends, a concept developed by Amy Wood as a side project to her day job helping run a creative agency. She had firsthand experience with how hard it can be to make new friends, and how rewarding and necessary strong female friendships are once you’ve cultivated them – and with that, the idea for Yes New Friends was born.

The concept is simple, fill out a form and answer a few questions.

What do you do for fun? What do you do for money? What do you want in a friend? Your ideal friend date?

This is the info Amy needs to find you a potential new bestie. Oh and entering in your age, sign, and Twitter handle help too – but she notes it’s not an exact science.

Running the website all by herself for now, you might have to wait a while for a match, but we think it might actually be worth it.

With the plethora of dating sites out there in the world, it’s nice to see a concept that focuses solely on platonic friendships for once.

If you do manage to score a new friend through the service, your mate will be happy you finally have someone else to hang out with, so, you know, he or she can finally have the chance to miss you.

Right now the site is focusing on female friendships, but she leaves the form open to men and will get to matching them when more of them start submitting themselves to the potential of a new friendship.

So, like, come at her, bro.
