Kawa (pronounced Ka’va) is the Polish word for “coffee”. But for Kawa owners, Les and Ottilia, the name is really an ode to their love of quality traditional style coffee.
Their little shop, located at 101-1333 8 Street SW, serves up some amazingly well-made coffee. Along with this, they also have a delicious food menu, an excellent wine menu, and great entertainment.
Pop in at a traditional hour for your morning Joe en route to work. While there, why not stay a while and indulge in one of their whole wheat crepes, either sweet or savoury.
No matter what time of day you come by, there is always a great vibe. The clientele is an eclectic grouping of Calgary YPs and urbanites. Several nights a week, patrons are treated to live performances as Kawa plays host to a variety of talented musicians.
Come in after work to this cozy little coffee shop to lounge with friends over dessert and coffee or tea as you listen to some live music. Or make a full evening of it and have a light dinner and a glass of wine.
Interested in catching one of the live performances? Check out their website for upcoming artists and shows. On these nights, the room can fill up so be sure to get there with plenty of time to snag a seat.
