Must Try: Muse Restaurant and Lounge

The second season of Top Chef Canada is scheduled to hit the small screen in March, and Calgary’s food scene will yet again gain exposure as one of the city’s top chefs joins the competition. Xavier Lacaze, 31, the Executive Chef of Muse Restaurant and Lounge in Kensington, has been chosen as one of 16 competitors for the show, which premieres next month.

Originally from the southwest part of France near Toulouse, Lacaze has eight years of training in classic French cuisine and says that influences his love of rich food. Cooking with butter, foie gras and any type of duck have all been deliciously intertwined in the restaurant’s menu.

Located just north of the river in Kensington (107 – 10A Street NW) Muse offers French and Canadian cuisine with a modern twist. The kitchen’s philosophy is one of using the freshest local and regional ingredients, such as organic meats and produce. Close relationships with local farmers and growers gives Muse Restaurant the opportunity to hand pick all the ingredients and supplies that go into every dish.

With the announcement of Xavier joining this season’s competition, Muse has become the restaurant to check out for many of the city’s foodies and fans of the show. As a result, many of their nights are becoming fully reserved with eager Calgarians looking to get a taste.

The Muse team is super excited about watching the competition and they have plans to host Top Chef nights every week, where YPs can come in and enjoy the food as they watch each episode to see who gets cut and who continues on…and of course cheering on Chef Lacaze himself.
