Must Try: Monki Breakfast Club and Bistro

Breakfast is the first step towards a productive day, no doubt, which is why Monki Breafast Club & Bistro is worth checking out immediately. Owned and operated by brothers Jaret and Tyler Loria (their family used to own Gnocchi’s), Monki’s menu offers a fresh take on that first, most important meal of the day.

Located in the Beltline (1301 – 10 Ave SW), the space is intimate with exposed brick walls, wood tables, vibrant punches of orange and a plethora of fresh flowers. Yes, it is beautiful inside, but you it is the food that takes centre stage. The menu is European-inspired and is a mix of breakfast and lunch dishes. Offering light and fresh fare, Monki uses local producers as often as possible when sourcing ingredients.

If you are in for breakfast, we recommend you try one of their eggs Benedicts. For lunch, they have a great list of paninis to choose from. We think it is worth trying their tomato salad, though. The salad features a locally-made Barratta cheese that is melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

The vibe is laid back, and the brothers have created a space that caters to the modern young professional. They’re open from 8am to 4pm, because what urbanite is really going to be getting up for a breakfast other than those who have a corporate job to get to? So for those of you whose office is wherever wi-fi exists, Monki is the place for you.

A licensed establishment, they also have a modest (but delicious) wine and beer selection, making Monki a great spot for those afternoon meetings with clients or friends.
