The new spot on Queen East that’s getting all the glory? Riverside Public House. Why? Well, its pedigree includes an owner who also counts The Great Hall and Wrongbar to his roster, its chef was featured for many weeks on Top Chef Canada season one, and its mixologist is ex-Susur. Intrigued? We are too.
Riverside Public House’s kitchen reigns are held by Chef Dustin Gallagher. You know, the chef with a smile that could warm Anna Wintour and ex-Grace exec? He’s serving up the food he loves, just with a gourmet twist. Note: the food is called affordable. Now, normally when we hear that, we think of spots where the owners deem $28/entree affordable for the working class. Not the case here. Everything actually is priced so you could dine here numerous times per week. Not that you’ll be craving gourmet comfort food that often.
The food aside, Riverside Public House boasts delicious and expertly-crafted cocktails that’ll pair beautifully with live music. That’s right, while RPH can only seat about 70 for dinner, 250 can cram in for concerts, so expect some nifty trendy bands and soloists to make their way to the other side of the DVP.
Riverside Public House will do well in spite of its away-from-downtown location…so long as the masses creep over the bridge, that is.
