Must Try: Richmond Station

Richmond Station is a hot new spot that has seen foodies and diners alike flock since its opening but a few weeks ago. Why? Well aside from it’s farm-to-table heavy menu, it’s clean and soothing decor, its central downtown location, and the list goes on, it’s Top Chef Canada Season Two winner Carl Heinrich’s new spot with long-time friend and business partner Ryan Sarfeld.

Richmond Station boasts a delicate menu of comfort fare taken up to gastronomical notches. The Coq au Vin, for instance, sees juicy piece of chicken with crispy wine-soaked skin atop a lovely mash. The burger, something Heinrich perfected over at Marben, is just as perfect: braised brisket inside house-ground shoulder and loin makes a pinky-hued patty that’s oh so divine.

The wine list is ample and perfectly priced, with most ticking in around $50. A Falanghina is a rare find, and the choice on Richmond Station’s menu pairs beautifully with most any dish. And let’s not forget dessert… House-made marshmallows with luxe chocolate make a modern take on s’mores, and a spiced butternut squash cake is ever so flavourful.

Richmond Station needs to be a stop on your next night out.
