Must Try: Grumans Catering and Delicatessen

For those who love delis and food that tastes like home cooked meals, Grumans Delicatessen (http://grumans.ca/) is the place for you. They’ve been catering for years, but it wasn’t until last year that they opened a storefront in the community of Victoria Park (230 – 11 Ave SE).

A bit of a hidden gem, the space is clean and crisp with an industrial yet homey feeling. The walls are lined with old black and white photos of the family and the infamous Bubba, whose dishes have become iconic Grumans staples. Inspired by the authentic delis of Montreal and New York, Grumans offers a traditional Jewish deli menu that is sure to transport you to another city with every bite.

Open from 10:00am to 3:30pm during the week, they cater a great deal to a corporate clientele. Whether it is popping in to grab something to go or to sit and enjoy a sandwich with colleagues, we suggest trying a hand-carved Old Fashioned Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwiche or the Matzo ball soup. Don’t forget that Grumans is also fully licensed, so don’t hesitate to wash down your sandwich with a cold libation.

For those YPs who are looking for somewhere a little different for weekend brunch, the deli is open Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00am to 4:00pm. For that first meal of the day, they offer a great brunch menu with dishes such as Challah French Toast and Smoked & Poached Breakfast Poutine.

Of course it is worth mentioning that they still have the catering company and are able to accommodate any of your needs, whether it is a corporate event or an afternoon get together with friends.

Be sure to like them on Facebook or follow them on Twitter to stay up to date on the latest dishes they are serving up.
