Any self-respecting Calgarian indulges in BBQ fare from time to time. For those who love well-made southern cuisine, Bookers BBQ Grill and Crab Shack is just the spot. Located in the heart of the city, this restaurant has been celebrating southern cooking, BBQ and seafood for almost 15 years. In that time, it has become famous for all-you-can-eat crab and live music.
In 2008, the owners partnered with Vintage Group. In doing so, Bookers also revamped their menu and renovated the space making to make it an ideal destination for young professionals to indulge. They also managed to keep the casual charm that so many have come to love.
The food is a casual blend of southern BBQ and Creole street food. We definitely suggest trying the deep fried pickles and the St. Louis ribs.
But it’s not just the food that has people coming back time and again. Every weekend they, host Bluessmyth Fridays and Saturdays. The live music is great and definitely gets people in the mood for a big night of BBQ, beer and music.
Sundays and Mondays are always jammed, as these are the much loved all-you can-eat crab and ribs nights; crab is $39.95 and ribs are $28.95. The place often fills up on these nights – how can it not with a value like that?
Throughout the week, they also have really great happy hour prices. All drinks are $5 or less, making it a great option for those after work libations.
The space is designed well, making it a great spot to chill with a couple of friends or the place to host your next corporate or special event. Their team is excellent at making any event really memorable.
Over the last few years, Bookers has also become one of the staple venues during Stampede. They erect a tent every year, with lots of live music, food and overall Stampede excitement. They also play host to a number of corporate parties during those ten days.
