Must Try: Big Fish

Look no further than Big Fish if you love seafood. The minute you enter the space you will be hooked…line and sinker. That’s it for puns, we promise. The restaurant is an unpretentious and cozy space located in Bridgeland (1112 Edmonton Trail NE) with warm wood floors and large windows.

Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner service, their menu is a delicious blend of seafood and locally produced ingredients. The dishes are amazing and you are sure to find several that will have your mouth watering. A couple of our favourites? The pan-roasted Manitoba Walleye with wilted spinach, crispy pancetta and pine nuts; or the lamb and lobster burger on herb ciabatta with Cambozola cheese, avocado and salsa cruda.

The ambiance is great in the evening – blues music plays in the background and candlelit tables set the mood. It’s worthwhile coming in just for the daily selection of six varieties of premium East and West Coast oysters. Their drink menu is creative and showcases ingredients such as Calvados and Orange Blossom syrup, and their wine menu is designed to pair perfectly with seafood dishes. For YPs who have their own favourite bottles, Wednesday evenings are nights where you are welcome to bring in your own wine for a corkage fee.

Looking for something a little different on weekend mornings? Saturdays and Sundays feature a delicious brunch menu. Nothing says good morning like wild mushroom, truffle, basil and white cheddar scramble on Noble Duck confit hash. One of the best parts about their weekend brunch is they are one of few places in the city that takes reservations.

Whether it is a night out with friends or a casual weekend morning meal, you are guaranteed to have a great time and will have peace of mind knowing that Big Fish is committed to using sustainable seafood choices and locally sourced ingredients.
