Must Try: Aprile Bambina Cucino

Aprile Bambina Cucino opened quietly in late December. Perhaps quietly insofar as Toronto en masse is concerned, but the neighbours have already begun to flock to their new locale.

From the people behind Hank’s, Wine Bar, and Great Burger Kitchen, Aprile Bambina Cucino is helmed by co-owner Chef Bryan Burke. The menu is rustic Italian – the soul food of the Big Boot. On menu you’ll find an assortment of classics like thin crust pizza, homemade pastas and sauces, and protein mains that will ever rotate based on seasonal ingredients.

The room is quaint, focusing on a less-is-more aesthetic. Exposed brick, wine racks showcasing some beautiful Italian varietals, and decor queues to Italy’s days of yore are all visible from any seat in the house. From vintage photographs to an accordion and even a Vespa looming over the entrance, the atmosphere is entrenched in the minimal pieces of Italy’s heritage.

Aprile Bambina Cucino is neighbourhood restaurant… but its inviting atmosphere beckons everyone across the city.
