Must Attend: Montreal Restaurateurs and Celebrities Play Ball for Charity

Here’s your chance to check out your favorite mixologist, waiter, waitress or restaurateur play ball against a roster of local celebrities for a great cause. 

For the fourth year, 15 bars and restaurants in Montreal will pay to play in the Lions Cup Soccer Tournament to try to bring the Cup home. The 16th team will be made up of Montreal celebrities, many of whom competed in the Gentlemen’s Futbol Invitational, which took place during the World Cup craziness.

Teams will represent Burgundy Lion, L’Orignal, Imadake, Rouge, Diz Onze, evenko, Vigilant Global, Gepetto, Sticky Media, Mile Public House, Old Orchard/Irish Embassy, Lili & Oli and McLean’s Pub.

The All-Star team will feature Chef Danny Smiles (Le Bremner), Chef Antonio Park (Park Restaurant), DJ JoJo Flores, DJ Psychology, Pat Leduc (RDS), Conor McKenna (TSN 690), Freeway Frank & Natasha Gargiulo (Virgin Radio), Jason Rockman (CHOM), Bilal Butt (CHOM), Noel Butler (TSN 690), Rebecca Makonnen (Radio-Canada), Andie Bennett (CBC TV), Jay Walker (Global TV), Wilder Weir (Breakfast TV – CITY), Mustapha Terki (MEG), as well as other celebrities. 

Following the all-day tournament, the players will head to the Virgin Mobile Corona Theatre for a fun night of rock n roll, courtesy of Eagle Tears, Xavier Cafeine and We Are Wolves. The public can also buy tickets to this great concert. All the funds collected by the tournament and the concert, plus the sale of raffle tickets, will be donated to GOAL.

GOAL raises funds for non-profit organizations that help support families, youth, social activities and education. To date, over $102,000 has been raised.

The raffle has some great prizes, including 50,000 Aeroplan Miles, one month’s use of a Mercedes-Benz from Silver Star, a Labatt Brewery Tour, followed by dinner and drinks for 11 people, Canadiens, Alouettes & Redbull FC shirts signed by the entire team, Osheaga and Heavy Montreal weekend passes, and more.
