Must Attend: A Night At The Opera

If you’re in the mood for some Opera, but in a more vibrant and sociable atmosphere, then we have the perfect event for you. Following in the footsteps of its first two successful activities, the Young Associates of Opéra de Montreal are back, this time with a new take on the traditional benefit event format. The event has been transformed into an experience – a Night at the Opera!

The event will take place on the Opéra de Montreal stage amid the sets of the opera Dead Man Walking. The theme will bring participants in an extraordinary prison setting offering a sophisticated and grandiose experience.

The artists of the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montreal will offer guests a selection of well-known, dramatic arias from the opera repertory, perfect for those of us that are both novice and expert opera followers. In addition, musical performances by DJ Yves Laurin will provide music all night, surely heating up their beautiful dance floors. Also in store is another very special performance by Montreal folk group The Barr Brothers. Opera, dance and folk music…talk about a winning combo!

Of course, there is a cause behind most fabulous events like these. The goal of this night is to raise funds to support the Opéra de Montreal, and to give young professionals from the Montreal region an opportunity to get introduced to the world of opera and expand their horizons; hence why the Young Associates committee was formed.

A little background on this great group: Formed in 2009 by a group of 13 young professionals from various spheres, such as finance, law, medicine, and entrepreneurship, the Young Associates Committee aims to support the Opéra de Montreal’s vision of motivating the young professional community. Young Associates are in turn provided with opportunities for discussion, networking, meeting other YPs from the city as well as primary access to opera.

This will be an event not to miss and, judging from the feedback we received from last year’s gala, it was truly a spectacular night. This wonderful YP initiative is made possible through the support of its generous sponsors, including the National Bank, Little Burgundy, Groupe Alfid, Molson M and ION Magazine.

Tickets ($125) are available now on the Opéra de Montreal website. All funds raised at the event will go towards supporting the Opéra de Montreal’s activities.
