Montreal’s Beloved Poutine Week is Back

Drooling already? Don’t worry, so are we.

La Poutine Week is officially back for its 3rd installment.

So what’s it all about?

Until February 7th, each participating Poutine Week restaurant, will be putting up their most unique and epic poutines for public consideration – and to compete for the best poutine in the city.

Each participating restaurant must create a special poutine especially for La Poutine Week. Poutine lovers are encouraged to taste and then vote for these never-before-seen poutines on the website. At the end of the week, several poutine winners are announced, such as the Judges’ Choice, Most Popular, Healthiest, and the “Imposter” (i.e. not a real poutine).

Created by Na’eem Adam and Thierry Rassam, La Poutine Week festival first made its successful debut in 2012 with 30 Montreal restaurants taking part. Other cities are now on board, including Toronto and Ottawa, and the list is growing every year.

“Every participating restaurant has greatly benefited from our festival,” says Rassam. In fact, restaurants have been known to run out of food and make record sales during La Poutine Week. “We are getting closer to our goal to grow this festival into the biggest and most fun food festival in the world. If you have poutine only once a year, it’s the opportunity to try what’s best out there,” Rassam added.

A little worried about that extra poundage you might add on?

The top poutine ‘eaters’ will be eligible to win gym passes and positive health related prizes.

That’s what we call a double-win.
