Uber, the buzzed about mobile application that connects passengers with drivers of vehicles for hire, is finally touching down in Montreal. If you’re not familiar with its genius yet, here’s a little breakdown:
Uber is a private driver service in over 50 cities and 20 countries. When you request a ride using the app, you get picked up within minutes. You can compare rates for different vehicles and get fare quotes in the app, as well as add a credit card to your secure account so you never need cash on hand. You can easily set your pickup location on the map, even if you don’t know the exact address. You’re then connected to your personal driver and track your Uber in real-time.
And for those that hate paper receipts, they will email you a receipt when you arrive at your destination.
So now it’s time for our city. After a few weeks of testing the service here, Uber is showing us how much they love our fair city by marking this week as their official launch of uberTAXI by kicking it off with a week of FREE uberTAXI for everyone here! Every Montrealer is invited to use Uber and get three FREE rides (up to $20) from now until Wednesday, November 20th at 11am.
