Montreal Weekender: October 23 through 26, 2014

From splurge-worthy warehouse sales to must-attend celebrations of art, our Weekender breaks down all the notable happenings you need for your social calendar from now until Sunday. Here's where you'll find us over the next four days

THURSDAY
It’s back! The Rocky Horror Show invades The Mainline with Richard O’Brien’s musical-theatre masterpiece as camp sic-fi meets sexual exploration, glam-rock, and sensual daydreams to treasure forever. Thursday is the new Halloween, apparently.

Need to spruce up your wardrobe? The Lacoste warehouse sale kicks off today and goes all weekend featuring all new inventory for men and women full of shoes, clothing and handbags. The notable part? John Varvatos pieces will be there too.

If you haven’t heard yet, now you have. Thursdays at Le Belmont are all about LE CYPHER, Montreal’s premiere hip-hop/soul jam hosted by none other than Urban Science, a house band featuring some of the city’s finest musicians and performers. Did we mention Boom J’s cuisine will be on-site serving up some of the city’s finest Jamaican food like jerk, rotis, and patties? Jah.

FRIDAY
If partying’s on your mind tonight then there is nowhere else to be than Pandore. Not only are the views phenomenal and the music seriously notable, but it’s also our friend Josh Silver’s birthday – and if you know him, you know it’s going down. We are not responsible for any dancing that will ensue on tables and bars tonight. Don’t forget your dance shoes.

Today is the last day to catch Phénomena. Now in its third year, Phénomena features 110 artists and nearly 40 performances across multiple locations. Still rooted in the Mile End, the festival is pursuing its goal to provide a forum for unclassifiable, interdisciplinary, and undisciplined artists. The program this time is full of big names and emerging and unclassifiable artists.

SATURDAY
We hope you’ve been brushing up on your Thriller dance. Why, you ask? Because more than 10,000 living dead will invade Quartier des Spectacles for the fourth annual Zombie Walk, kicking off the year’s Halloween festivities. Put on your grossest face, get crazy with the FX makeup, and meet at Place des Festivals at noon for this insane parade.

Tonight the 19th annual Champagne Party will be popping corks off at JARGO.
This Lavish party will have live oyster shucking, Champagne giveaways and other fancy surprises. The cherry on the cake? One of our favorite DJs, Thomas H, will be spinning the night away.

SUNDAY
As always, The Segal Centre brings greatness – and this time it’s with “Belle Soeurs.” The premise? When a Plateau Mont-Royal housewife wins one million trading stamps from a department store, her life is turned upside down. Michel Tremblay’s landmark piece of Quebec theatre has been translated into over 25 languages and performed across the world, and now is your chance to see it.

It’s your last chance to get your shop on at The Big Fashion Sale by Quebec Designers (also known as the Braderie). Sixty to 100 fashion designers participate in each edition, including our choice picks like Mackage, which is the reason why you can find just about everything at the sale. Time to crack that piggy bank. Trust us.
