Montreal Weekender: November 6 through 9, 2014

THURSDAY
Let’s kick off Thursday on an artsy note. One of the most eclectic and beautiful souls inside and out, Jessica Gorlicky, will be sharing her live painting style at the always-chic Galerie 203. Need a major visual orgasm? This is it, ladies and gents.

La Famiglia Recordings and Peopl are very proud and happy to invite you to another edition of Techno Thursday. After a (little) break, they are back with a very special guest from NY – DJ Richie Santana. So put on your after-work dance shoes and get ready for some serious beats.

Craving a dose of meatballs? Well, now you can get ‘em at Nini’s. We wrote about this new hotspot recently, and trust us, the wait is so worth the deliciousness you will encounter. It’s a great date spot, by the way. You’re welcome.

FRIDAY
Les Nocturnes du Mac is back celebrating the Biennale de Montreal at the Mac Museum. What can you expect? Exhibitions (open until 2am), DJs, a performance by Jessica Moss, workshop, Nocturne ambience, plenty of cocktails and an amazing crowd. Here’s another something notable: During the evening, there will be a listening station in Gallery 1 featuring sonic landscapes created by Matthew Biederman and Marko Peljham. We heart art.

Ladies! This one is especially for you, but men are very welcome as well. No judgment. Today, discover 35,000 square feet of beauty all under one roof filled with the newest trends in fashion and beauty. The Weekend de Toute Beaute will feature a champagne bar, red carpet, photo shoots, celebrity encounters and, of course, shopping.

Here’s some spicy theatre to satisfy your TGIF celebration: A steamy, erotically charged cat and mouse face-off, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy, pleasure and pain. That’s all we are divulging. Now go buy your tickets to Venus in Fur.

SATURDAY
Award-winning abstract artist Matt LeBlanc is bringing his innovative show, FUSION, to Montreal tonight to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) and the Mado’s Gift Foundation. FUSION is a seamless blend of art brought to life on stage, complete with exhilarating lights, music, dance, performances all presented through story. The cocktail reception starts at 6:30 pm and the show starts at 8:00 pm sharp. Oh, and there’s an after-party.

Another great event happening tonight is the 3rd Annual A Night to Remember, filled with art, love, memories and plenty of fun. This year’s “Touch” theme is all about making connections with families and friends who have been touched by dementia. The night’s mission is to help the Montreal Alzheimer Society make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Buy your tickets now and make it another night to remember.

For those that seek a real concert experience, The Renegades of Rhythm will be taking over the Corona Theatre tonight. Cut Chemist, former member of the funk Latin band Ozomatli, and of hip-hop group Jurassic 5 and DJ Shadow, and a prominent figure in the development of instrumental hip-hop, will be tearing the roof off until… well you know how these shows in Montreal go.

SUNDAY
It’s your last chance to enjoy and indulge in the MTL a Table. Still not familiar? All you need to know is that you can enjoy savoury set menus in more than 135 restaurants city-wide for a great price. Who says Sunday means couch and TV anyway? Not us.

Andy Warhol, fans brace yourselves. The collector and art historian Paul Maréchal reveals another aspect of Andy Warhol’s graphic design work at the Montreal Museum of Fine Art today. This time, he has chosen to share with the public his collection of 50 posters and almost a thousand illustrations found in 400 magazines. Warhol mania has taken over.
