Montreal Weekender: March 28 through 31, 2013

THURSDAY
Alright YPs, it seems like it’s been a very busy week all around so its time to let loose and unwind as the weekend draws to an end and most of us will be held slave to our loving families for some sort of Easter-related celebrations and massive eating marathons.

First stop on our list tonight is Buona Notte’s Grey Goose “Cerise Noir,” aka “Black Cherry” launch. Our favourite vodka is launching a new flavour and word on the street is the taste is damn good. The night will feature local star DJs Donald Lauture and Fafa Khan and the always delish food by Chef Lucio Panza. The notable part? The first 300 guests will receive something very special…

If a fancier affair is tickling your fancy tonight, head over the basement beauty that goes by the name of Sinclair Restaurant for the “Can’t Kiss My Red Lips Without Your Black Tie!” soiree presented by FAB BOSS. The theme? Take a guess… actually, just take the title of the party literally and follow along. Ladies, red lips are mandatory; gentleman, you have to rock your black tie or bow tie, so don’t be lazy and give Justin Timberlake a run for his swagger. Music is provided by our girl DJ NV and you can expect special performances by the always glammed out Black Mohawk. Look spiffy, paparazzi will be everywhere!?Since this is an invite ONLY private event, you must RSVP your attendance at info@fabboss.com

FRIDAY
We might as well call today shop-a-lot Friday with two big launches happening on opposite sides of town.

Holt Renfrew‘s smaller and much less expensive sibling, hr2, is finally open for business in Brossard at Quartier Dix/30. The mega-mall actualized the Square, a new fashion-centred destination this past Thursday. Holt Renfrew’s hr2 will be a major go-to at the Square featuring brands not offered at Holt Renfrew’s main chains or elsewhere in Canada. Pop those wallets open, ladies and gents, you will be very busy today!

On the complete other side of town, a dynamic move to put Old Montreal on the map is going on all day. Happening Vieux-Montreal is offering the public to explore what the OP’s friendly merchants have to offer. Since the list is quite heavy-duty, we narrowed down our top highlights:

Bar A Beurre: This brand new bakery in Old Montreal will welcome you during the Easter weekend with free yummy buns and an Easter biscuit with any purchase of $ 10 or more.

Felix Brown: Felix Brown shoes will decorate their windows and offer to pay taxes on all purchases in store for Easter weekend. In addition, a chocolate surprise will be given with every transaction!

Cookie Stefanie: With their brand new storefront, indulge with their pastel cupcakes to celebrate Easter, special prices for 6 or 12, and no taxes!

SATURDAY
Did you know it’s International TableTop Day today? Yeah, well neither did we. What’s this oddly sounding event all about? Well, the kind folks at Chez Geeks Gaming & Hobby Store on Saint-Denis are hosting this celebration for all the fans of tabletop gaming, “a general term used to refer to board games, card games, dice games, tile-based games and other games that are normally played on a table or other flat surface.” Why thank you, Wikipedia! So tap into your inner geek, bring your buddies and join in this single day where the whole world joins with the common purpose of spending time together and having fun.

It’s never a bad day to have a good laugh and, after a record setting run in Montreal for his bilingual show, Sugar Sammy brings The Indian Edition to The Olympia Theatre. Come enjoy jokes in English, Hindi, Punjabi and un peu de francais! Sammy is a riot, we’ve seen him more than once and can attest that the shows have yet to disappoint!

SUNDAY
Montreal’s White Party Week is getting ready to honor its 19th season with the highpoint of course being the Bal en Blanc, with 15 hours of blazing rhythms fuelled by the best international DJs starting at 9pm – and running until noon the next day – at the Palais des congrès de Montreal. International DJs such as Armin Van Buuren, Marcus Schulz and many more will be gracing the stage and making guests dance the night away (literally). We hope Monday is a day off for you, otherwise crawling into the office in a white cat suit might not go over that well.

With some of us will be enduring a diet-free mandatory Easter dinner at home with granny’s cooking, others opt for a hassle-free Easter brunch in the company of other YPs and foodies alike. The Old Port is always a festive go-to during the holidays with its charm, and we chose three options for you to check out in the search of an Easter bunny worthy brunch:

Vieux-Port Steakhouse is famous for its brunch buffet, welcoming you with all its gourmet staples plus a few seasonal extras and even a succulent roasted lamb. Only $31 for this YP-friendly meal.

For $39,you can enjoy a three-course feast with creations such as the breakfast poutine (lardons, peppers, sautéed onions, poached egg and Hollandaise sauce) at Suite 701.

And finally, Verses Restaurant is offering three scrumptious courses for $42 with menu items such as “Breakfast of Champions,” a delicious platter with foie gras, French toast brioche, goat cheese, bacon and a quail egg overeasy. Bring it on, Easter, bring it on!
