THURSDAY
There’s a lot going on this weekend, Montreal, so let’s just dive right in! Your Face entertainment’s production of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris marks the show’s bilingual premiere in Montreal at the MainLine Theatre. Consisting of around 25 songs, the show originally debuted Off-Broadway on January 22, 1968 at The Village Gate Theater in Greenwich Village and ran for more than four years. Who is Jacques Brel you ask? Well he was the premier French folk writer/singer during the 1950s-1970s singing about love, life, war, death and so on. The play consists of no plot and no characters but four singers, two men and two women, portraying one character: Jacques Brel. It’s a vivid theatrical and intense musical experience for the serious, artsy YP.

In order to help the cause, the Impact will be giving out a free scarf to all those who purchase a pair of Navy Blue or Royal Blue tickets for the game. Get your scarf and join the wave of the biggest soccer fans in Canada. Go Impact go!

Most of us might be too young to remember the 70s and 80s when iPods didn’t exist and that beautiful noise your parents grooved to came from vinyl; when clubs like Studio 54 and Montreal’s Limelight were the coolest places to be spotted and when disco ruled the airwaves. But one little mega hit that has become universal throughout the decades is “YMCA,” and the Village People are here to perform it live in person! Brought to our funky city by FAB BOSS, the show will also feature special guests like Montreal’s own DJs ABEILLE and YO-C. So practice your best group “YMCA” and get ready to do it along the big crowd of nostalgic music fans, baby!

If you missed last year’s completely epic Superparty, an upscale underground event that runs from sunset to sunrise, here’s your chance to experience the super debauchery that awaits. For the first time in its 14-year existence, the legendary Stereo will be hosting a full bar and bottle service on Saturday night from 10pm-3am with some of dance music’s top names providing beats to make you shake that booty all night long until the light comes out – no sleeping allowed.

SUNDAY
There is only one event that requires everyone’s notable presence today and that is the 190th St. Patrick’s Day parade, which will take place on Ste- Catherine St. in downtown Montreal. It will leave from the corner of du Fort St. at noon and head east as far as Phillips Square. Kilkenny, Guinness and Jamie will be available at the Parade, so clearly the drinks will keep flowing from the night before. After the parade we recommend stopping by some of Montreal’s top Irish (guaranteed mayhem spots including McLean’s Pub on Peel, Hurley’s Irish Pub on Crescent and Mckibbin’s on Bishop. We suggest rubber boots and a lot of energy…don’t ask, just trust us.
