The Montreal Summer Heat continues and the fun times keep on coming. There’s such a variety of places to go, see and enjoy that the Notable team would need a 30-page spread for your entire Summer Guide. But lets keep it short and sweet for this weekender.
Thursday
Who doesn’t love a boat party? Our thoughts exactly. Luckily for us, Palladium Productions and Lights Out Montreal are hosting a “dress to impress” boat shindig equipped with great DJs, 4 bars, 2 dance floors and 1 lounge. Check-in aboard the Cavalier Maxim is at 11pm and the party goes until 3am. Seasickness not welcome!
If staying on land is your preference, check out the four terraces with stunning views at the Terrasses Bonsecours. Every Thursday they supply the right amount of beats to get you going along with delicious oysters from the Old Port Fishing Company. Starting at 5 pm, just bring your snazzy outfit to work and come by to start the night early with Montreal’s young movers and shakers.
Friday
Women love to shop, it’s a fact. To satisfy this habit, one of Montreal’s favourite designers, Barilà, is having a 30% off shopping event off the 2012 Summer Collection. Trust us, its worth it. The designs are gorgeous, local and super modern, so ladies get your wallets out. It takes place from 11am at Unicorn Boutique.
Once you dragged your poor male counterparts to pick out new summer outfits, cut them some slack and go to the quirky Euro 2012 meet-up spot, Cafe Olimpico. Friday is host to a very big game of Greece versus Germany and, knowing that area, the Greeks will be out in full force. Just make sure you stay cool with their selection of iced drinks and wooden back patio.
Montreal’s downtown party terrace KOKO at the Opus Hotel kicks off spring and summer with style. Music provided by Thomas H and a brand new menu prepared by Executive Chef Brandon Thordason. Sweat your Friday away in a chic surrounding; it makes it a bit easier that way.
Saturday
Did someone say ice cream? Montreal’s hot days wouldn’t be complete without Bilboquet Ice Cream. Their homemade ice creams and sorbets are so worth the long wait. Our favourite location? Outremont’s trendy Bernard Avenue. You can spot ice cream fanatics down the block. Our choice taste? The coconut-mango Sorbet.
Old Montreal’s new Clock Tower Beach has a fun little event happening today. Coppertone presents Art in the Sand, which will host three artist-created sand sculptures. Even cooler? You can watch the artist at work and even vote for your top pick through Facebook. Talk about interactive!
Sunday
Lets make this Sunday a more artsy affair, shall we? Brunch time should take place at Sparrow. Montreal’s number one ranked restaurant by Trip advisor sets your taste buds on fire with dishes such as applesauce served with pork & eggs and home made tater tots. You can spot a lot of scenesters (the cool kind) talking away amongst the walls covered in paintings of white birds. The atmosphere here gets an A++.
After you filled up, hop skip over to the Montreal Baroque Festival. The festivities will include a music festival featuring an equestrian ballet, a parade in the streets of Old Montreal, a gala concert, workshops, master classes and even a sing-along Bach Cantata. We also can’t forget to mention the costumes that will clutter the streets that day; it is worth coming just for that alone.
