Montreal Weekender: January 29 to February 1, 2015

That wasn’t so bad, was it?

Ok, it was pretty bad. But no matter how hard January hits, Montreal’s young professionals always hit back harder. And look at the shiny reward you get for sticking it out; the glorious weekend.

Did we mention that it starts right now?

THURSDAY
Screw this weather, it’s time to get steamy. Today is your last day to experience the first-ever Steamy Week. Join the movement to celebrate our city’s legendary hot dog by sampling steamies at over 40 locations across the city, sharing your foodie steamy pictures, and adding your own favourite #SteamyWeek locations to the map.

Skateboard, BMX, and extreme sports fans will be able to enjoy their favourite sport throughout the winter with the opening of an indoor skatepark at the 5th floor of 2000 Notre Dame East. Dew Underground is open daily from 10:00am to 11:00pm to skaters, riders, and spectators. Check their page for band nights and DIY workshops.

The Dirty Show returns to The Wiggle Room for another night of depravity. What can you expect? Dirty music and dirty stand-up. That’s all you need for a great Thursday night.

FRIDAY
Quebec City’s annual winter carnival begins! One of the world’s largest winter carnivals, thousands of visitors will enjoy a slew of activities including night parades, snow slides, snow sculptures, live shows, sleigh rides, bumper cars on ice, and skating. It’s a bit of a trek but what are a few hours in the car for a full weekend of fun?

Igloofest begins its third of four weekends at the Old Port with the main attractions of the night being legendary DJ John Digweed, the BLOND:ISH duo and some of the best one piece snow suits around. Seriously.

Painting an ominous picture of Dublin’s gritty underworld, this mesmerizing tale takes viewers from busy city streets to the top of an industrial crane in the sky, then deep into the murky purgatory of singing serial killers, vengeful angels, and lovesick demons. Yep, just another play at the Centaur Theatre.

SATURDAY
One of our all-time favourite food joints/bars L’Orignal, aka: the Moose, is celebrating a major milestone today: their 7 Year Anniversary. Come by and congratulate Michael, Travis, and a VERY pregnant Monika on 7 years of success and dedication. Get ready for an excess amount of alcohol that will be flowing all night long as well as some yummy surprises. Just a normal night at the place where everybody knows your name.

English singer and songwriter Ben Howard will be gracing the stage at The Metropolis tonight. Apparently his live show is even better than his recorded albums. True talent indeed.

Restaurant Harlow recently opened in the Old Port and tonight seems like an ideal time to visit this Hollywood Glam inspired restaurant and bar. Expect quite a scene, but that’s what Saturday nights are for, right?

SUNDAY
The big day is here. You know what we’re talking about. The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks play the Super Bowl XLIX and we got you covered with three spots that need to be on your Super Bowl schedule today.

M:brgr will be hosting their burger bowl. A double header starting at 1:00pm where you can watch the Habs on the big screen while enjoying their giant wings, crazy poutiness, and burger specials. But make sure to pace yourself because they’ll continue into the night as the Patriots take on the Seahawks. Puck drops at 1:00pm, Ball flies at 6:30pm.

Rosewood is brining a tailgate party to their mimosa filled Sunday brunch with a double header as well. If you want delicious ribs, rock music, and a super cozy vibe laced with a little craziness, this is the place to be.

#WelcomeHome to Santos. Old Port’s legendary spot will be showcasing the Super Bowl on an 80′ HD projector, offering all you can eat pizza and wings for $20, and the Santos 2 litre beer jug for $30. Ouf…this will be a big one.

And if you still need more choices, check out the rest of the awesome places to catch the Super Bowl right here
