Montreal Weekender: January 22 through 25, 2015

You know what they say: if you can make it through January, you can expect to have some emotional scars to deal with at the beginning of February.

Hmm. Maybe “they” just shouldn’t say anything at all next time.

Unless of course, they’re saying something about the weekend.

And the jam-packed one that just happens to start right now…

THURSDAY

Restaurant Harlow is officially open – so if you’re in the mood for some old Hollywood glam, art deco décor, and French inspired dishes then we suggest you head over for a visit and enjoy Old Montreal’s newest resident.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival has set out on its Canada wide tour and Montreal is on the map. The tour features a selection of the best films from the 2014 official entries so be prepared for new discoveries, thrills, and wonderment in sports films. It’s going to be epic, bro.

For all you interior design freaks and real estate addicts, you can now discover the latest trends and innovations in every area, including kitchens and bathrooms, furniture and appliances, environmental materials, financial and real estate services, and much more this weekend.

FRIDAY

ARËM and its Chef Architect Reza Azarpoor will be celebrating a magical 1st anniversary of their re-opened restaurant after a terrible accident left Reza in recovery for quite some time. Expect fancy cocktails, great music, live DJs, dance performances and…food. All ticket proceeds and donations will benefit Entraide Grands Brules.

Our favourite local musical and cultural innovators, Saintwoods will be hosting a fun shindig at Igloofest today featuring some awesome DJs. Oh yeah, and there’s an after-party too.

Zola Jesus is coming to the PHI Centre tonight with her dark music dominated by operatic vocals and keyboards. It’s quite haunting, just check this out.

SATURDAY

Where can you find Twisted Sister, the most beautiful Harley’s in Canada, and a crowd of over 11,000? Welcome to Show Harley at the Bell Centre.

Chinatown’s Luwan is always a good time. Tonight will be going down with DL Jones & Dj sexNobe along with some special guests.

Jacques Cartier Place in the Old Port will be host to Crayski. Yes, you heard right, CRAYski. Two crazy slopes in 3 ski will be built…and you can use them too. DJs, prizes, and clearly a lot of fun.

SUNDAY

It’s the last day of the Montreal Auto Show at the Palais des congrès. Go and salivate over cars you’ll probably never be able to afford…but if you can, you’re welcome to pick us up.

Our hometown Canadien Carey Price will be playing in the NHL All-Star Game at 5 pm in Columbus, Ohio. Need a cool place to watch it? Check this place out.

Calling all dancing bears to an epic silent disco dance party on ice…nope, we’re not kidding. The Silent Disco Squad will be on site encouraging you to use your smartphones to create a shared music experience and ice dance away in silence…but not. A little confused? Read this and go.
