Montreal Weekender: February 6 through 9, 2014

THURSDAY
As always, the PHI Centre is holding an epic event. Boundary is the latest project from Montreal producer Ghislain Poirier and will be showcased tonight featuring dark and cinematic music exploring minimalist electronic soundscapes evoking the spirit of classic Intelligent Dance Music (IDM), experimental ambient and techno. The Boundary world premiere was held at MUTEK on May 31, 2013 and then went on to tour Toronto, Quebec City (Festival OFF) and Rouyn-Noranda at the Festival de musique émergente (FME). Only for the true music lovers!

The official Igloofest afterparty kicks off tonight and goes for a solid three days, because one afterparty clearly isn’t enough, right? Put together by the team behind Hype Energy and hosted at Joverse in Old Montreal, the first night will kick off with beats by Notv + Mayssam. This will quickly fill up with 80s-clad party-goers and music aficionados, so get there early.

FRIDAY
And so comes to a close one of the tastiest and fattiest foodie events our city is proud to call its own! Come celebrate the end of the 2nd annual La Poutine Week with an evening of delicious food served by the crew of Faberge and ROUX. What will be in store? Free poutine from ROUX Food Truck with other dishes being sold, beer for 2$ and free swag from David’s Tea & HAILO. The Taxi Magnet. First come, first serve; with these boys we know capacity will be hit early!

The crazy kids at MTL Blog are hosting their 2nd-year anniversary party and you know they will be doing it with a little bit of insanity. In collaboration with Saintwoods, they are getting together some of Montreal’s freshest talent at a place that we all know and love, 3643 ST. LAURENT APT. 200. Join them to celebrate in style and get ready for some MTL Blog Cake and Labatt’s 50. A little advice? Make sure you have no plans the next morning; sleeping in will be your best friend.

SATURDAY
Our buddies at The Royal Merchant are really stepping up their brunch game and want you to come try out what all the fuss has been about. Breakfast pizza? Yup, you got it! They love their clients so much that free mimosas will be pouring out all morning, so gather your friends, grab a great meal, and reminisce about your shenanigans from the night before.

We usually don’t share birthday events but this one will go down in the books. Oysterfest Founder and master shucker Daniel Notkin will be having his big 4-0 at neighbourhood favourite Burgundy Lion and the invite is open to one and all! Expect shots, drinks, keg stands and the usual debauchery that comes with Burgundy Lion and a birthday of this magnificent magnitude.

SUNDAY
Who doesn’t love a pajama party? Exactly, no one. The always-creative party people at Matinee events are hosting a grown-up (but ultra-fun) pajama party at the legendary Santos today and the best thing is it’s a brunch event. Complimentary champagne cocktails to those who come in their best dressed sleep duds… oh, and bring your own pillow (BYOP). Great food, drinks and music by Dj Special K and the stylish sounds of resident DJ Danny Torrence.

Chocolate aficionados, it’s back: The 3rd annual “I Love Chocolate” weekend has returned and today is your last chance to catch up and indulge. More than 12,000 chocolate lovers will stop by the Marché Bonsecours to meet Quebec talents, learn about the latest culinary trends through their Chocolate Academy, sample chocolate delights, and check out the chocolate fashion parades.
