Montreal Weekender: December 6 through 9, 2012

THURSDAY
Tonight is the night! Finally, the Quebec Notable Awards powered by Fusion are here and what a ride it has been. The feedback, support and excitement has been tremendous and we are beyond excited to bring this exciting event to Montreal for the first time. Hundreds of Quebec’s most influential young professionals will gather at Montreal’s Science Center to celebrate the accomplishments of Quebec’s most notable while carving out a piece of history. The evening will have two main portions to it; the Awards Show where the Quebec Notable Awards Finalists, their guest, and handpicked VIPs will watch as the 19 winners are named and called to the stage for a talk-show style interview; this is followed by the After Party, where the real celebration commences with 500 of the leading young professionals from Montreal, and the rest of Quebec, partying and toasting and celebrating together. This will be a night to remember! Guestlist is officially closed but you can follow all the action on Facebook and Twitter (#NotableAwardsQC) and by clicking here.

FRIDAY
Young Professionals in Montreal like to stand out and be unique, whether it’s in fashion, art or décor, and that’s where shopping at times proves tricky. It’s hard to find certain designers and brands around but that’s where Smart Design Mart comes in. Smart Design is an art and design market made up of a curated selection of some of our favourite designers and artists that gives them more space and freedom to create a boutique feeling for their designs while YPs enjoy a relaxed and intimate shopping experience.?The Mart carefully curated a selection of vendors to create an interesting and balanced mix of product categories, including clothing, jewellery, art, home decor, toys, pets, stationery, food and bath & body, giving YPs a well-rounded mix of options. Vendors will be transforming their spaces into the mini boutique of their dreams; this will be a shopping event not to be missed!

Kick-start your weekend in high gear at the infamous Destination Fridays at Buonanotte! With beats provided by DJ Special K and a spanking new menu created by Lucio Panza, this night is known for great eats, beautiful people and a real Friday night party vibe. If you have ever been to or driven by Buona, one thing we all know is that it gets packed and line-ups are not short, so we highly recommend making reservations as space is truly limited.?

SATURDAY
We couldn’t be more excited for this entire week. First, our amazing Awards, and now, 24h Tremblant, North America’s biggest sporting fundraising event, that’s raised more than $10 million for children’s causes since 2001, takes place. The 12th annual edition will happen on the slopes of Tremblant on December 7 to 9 and has something for everyone.  he 3 days of festivities include free concerts, a comedy show, parties in the village and an amazing atmosphere all around. This event gathers up to 25,000 people, including participants, sponsors, celebrities, musicians and the media. The main purpose of this event is creating a friendly ski or snowboard relay, which takes place continuously over a 24-hour period on the slopes of Mont-Tremblant to raise money for children’s causes. Fun, charity and snow – we are there!

If you plan on staying in the city tonight, the must-attend event of the night is the Colliers International Mad Men YAD Gala. With the theme undoubtedly being centered around TV Show phenomena Mad Men, Montreal’s brightest and coolest YPs will gather in the stunning Centre PHI in Old Montreal, dressed to impress in their best 1960s Holiday Party Chic attire. The night will consist of a premium open bar, dessert reception, swinging 60s performances, late night snacks and of course the best people our city has to offer. Last year’s party was an utter success and this time around it’s shaping up to be even bigger and better!

SUNDAY
Christmas is just around the corner and what better way to enjoy the pre-season joy then to attend the classic Old Montreal Extravaganza. The event celebrates the holiday season with a month long of continuous indoor and outdoor activities, including Christmas choirs, carriage rides, a route of the nativity scene, a decorated outdoor skating rink and the very first International Village of Christmas Traditions at Place Jacques-Cartier. There are daily events and this is a perfect date outing or just a great way to spend time with your family and friends over a cup of hot cocoa while checking out the sights.

If Rock n’ Roll is boiling in your Sunday night veins, check out these four dudes from Omaha called “The Faint,” an American Indie Rock Band performing at Club Soda tonight. These guys are amazing, as some of us from the Notable team have had a chance to see them live before. If the words 80s, rock, good times and dance all appeal to your sense, this is your show!
