Montreal Comes to Calgary for Valentine’s Day

Calling all (food) lovers.

This Valentine’s Day you can treat that someone special in your life with reservations at one of Montreal’s famed restaurants.

And the best part is, you don’ t even have to leave Calgary to do it.

From the 13th to the 15th of February, celebrated chef Derek Dammann will relocate his Maison Publique restaurant to the city and share his European inspired dishes with locals in the new PDR space, located right on 17th Avenue.

If you spent NYE in town this year, you might have attended the opening of PDR (that stands for ‘Private Dining Room’), a new room located inside Model Milk.

Intended to host pop-up speakeasy nights and special events, the PDR venue is one of Justin Leboe’s latest projects. Designed with modest décor and an open kitchen, this blank canvas concept will allow the Montreal kitchen and service staff to transform the room into Maison Publique for three special evening meals.

And for those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of dining in Montreal in the past few years, Derek Dammann’s brilliant restaurant is situated in the Mont-Royal neighbourhood and is known for its down to earth vibe (equivalent to a London pub) and its regionally focused menu.  Respected for creating outstanding fare, free of pretension, the Canadian chef has worked alongside Jamie Oliver and earned notice in national magazines like enRoute.

In other words, it’s a big deal to have Dammann in town.

So if you’re still wondering how to make the weekend of the 14th count, do yourself – and your date – a favour, and make reservations for dinner at PDR.

Even people who are against celebrating Valentine’s Day can’t pass this up.
