We often worry that our parents are going to suffer from Empty Nest Syndrome when we kids leave home – but sometimes they really know how to have fun too.
When Dalton Ross, from Tennessee, went to study abroad at Belmont University in London, he said on imgur that he jokingly sent his mom a cutout of himself.
“I thought maybe they’d put it in the living room corner until I got back to remember I exist,” he said
But the student’s mother had much grander ideas for his life-size cardboard likeness while he was out of town. In a series of hilarious pictures, Susan Talley is seen taking her ‘son’ to the park, to Subway, and even to the doctor’s office for his annual check-up.
Talley went on “lots of adventures with this Dalton, while the real one is in Europe,” ranging from trips to basketball games, baseball hitting practice, and dinner with the extended family where he appeared to give a toast.
But she just wouldn’t be his mother if she didn’t try to intervene romantically, even setting her son up with a nice girl on Valentine’s Day.
Dalton dined with none other than Mattel babe Barbie back in February after his mother shot cupid’s arrow straight through some very pink tableware and her son’s cardboard cutout heart. And while they seemed to be having fun, we suspect Barbie may have used a slightly out of date picture on her Tinder profile.
Susan sent the pictures to Dalton, who uploaded them under the username ienjoybread and chronicled his cutout adventures from across the continent.
The moral of this story: never underestimate your parents; sense of humour. Or at the very least, never send a cardboard cutout of yourself if you don’t want to end up on unsolicited dates arranged by your mom.
