Men Are Officially Becoming More Romantic Than Women

There was time when most men over the age of seven would cringe at the thought of Valentine’s Day. Over the years, however, men have been getting more and more comfortable with visible, classic celebrations of love and emotion. And now, according to a recent poll from Match.com, it looks like the tables have officially turned

According to a recent poll of Canadian singles conducted by Match.com, 79% of men consider Valentine’s Day to be a romantic holiday.

That was compared to 75% of women.

And here’s where the numbers really hit home: 30% of women plan to celebrate the day this year, compared to 33% of men.

Men are officially starting to care more about Valentine’s Day than women.

That’s right, ladies, it’s the gentleman who are starting to smell the roses.

The waning days of the strictly stoic He-Man figure have been upon us since the early 2000s, but somewhere along the line, a final straw seems to have crushed the camel’s spine.

Perhaps it was The Notebook’s Noah building a house and crying about it.

Maybe it was Love Actually’s Mark finally confessing his love for Juliet with painfully large handwriting and a never-ending string of gag-sized cue cards, only to leave her and become the ultimate zombie-apocalypse patriarch.

Or maybe it was when 31 million people on YouTube saw a guy with tattoos make literally the best marriage proposal of all time.

Whatever or whenever it was, congratulations, ladies: Operation RoMANcipation has been a success.
