Medina Cafe

Medina Cafe has been heralded Vancouver-wide for its ridiculously well-prepared menu. Bistro-inspired and globally-influenced, the meals at Medina Cafe are curated by Co-Owner and Executive Chef Nico Shuermans, who’s own culinary background is more than impressive: Schuermans has held tenure in some of the world’s finest kitchens.

Medina Cafe’s wooden banquettes and simple décor offer a modest and homely place to sit and enjoy their fluffy and sinfully delicious waffles, adorned with toppings like fig orange marmalade or milk chocolate lavender. The Libanais is a clever combination of a soft boiled egg, tomato cucumber salad, babaganoush and tabouleh. When you slice through the egg the milky yolk oozes out over the fresh and contrasting flavours and textures – really an exciting dish for your palette.

Owners Nico and Karri Schuerman also reside over Chambar and The Dirty Apron Cooking School. Their passion for the culinary craft is evident in their care and execution of their dishes. Medina opened in 2007, and has since become the daytime solution to Chambar’s nighttime patrons. It’s an equation even the daftest at numbers can comprehend: absurdly delicious food plus quaint and chic atmosphere equals years of success. Medina Cafe, 556 Beatty, Vancouver, 604-879-3114.
