McDonald’s Announces Plans to Only Use 100% Cage-Free Eggs

For as much as we harp on the biggest burger chain in the world, they have been doing some positive things lately.

They seem to really be starting to understand that our generation is above the bulls*hit and about one Big Mac away from never coming back. So while they might not be able to revamp their entire image, they can continue to take some major steps forward – including making the commitment to use 100% cage-free eggs in all of their U.S and Canadian stores (they went cage-free in Europe 16 years ago).

Considering McDonald’s buys 2 BILLION eggs a year in the U.S. alone, that’s a pretty big deal.

Don’t get too excited though, it’s going to take about 10 years to reach that 100% mark. Lisa McComb, McDonald’s Director of Media Relations, told, “the 10-year window is needed because of the amount of eggs they purchase per year.”

Whatever the reason, we’re happy that by 2025 our guilt for eating an Egg McMuffin will be down at least 30%. Now only if they can figure out how to get all-day breakfast up here
