Mark Endras: Today’s Notable Young Entrepreneur

Today’s Notable Young Entrepreneur is Mark Endras, CEO and Founder of TradeRev. He’s a trailblazing automotive tech entrepreneur who is changing the way cars are sold in North America. What began as an app project has grown into a multi-million dollar, 100+ team member operation that serves thousands of car dealerships in North America and is poised for global expansion. We caught up with him to find out what inspires him and what advice he would share with other young professionals…

WORK

1. Describe what you do in less than 140 characters. Go.
We created a mobile app to change the way cars are bought and sold. We have a passion and desire to disrupt the auto industry and build a heightened level of transparency to break this industry’s negative stigma.

2. What was the inspiration for your career route?
I have a background in car sales and computer science and I wanted to find a way to make the business easier, quicker and more profitable via technology.

3. What is the most memorable milestone in your career so far?
Having a large US company purchase 50% of TradeRev but still allow us to run TradeRev the way we want.

4. Where do you see yourself in five years, 10 years, 20 years?
Besides seeing TradeRev in every province in Canada and every US state, I fully expect to see us in more countries worldwide – Europe, Asia, Australia, etc. in five years. We want to be an integral part of the car buying experience and turn automotive retail into an enjoyable experience.

5. Do you have any advice for other young professionals?
At the end of the day, you can have multiple degrees but if you don’t have passion for what you’re doing, and aren’t willing to put in the time, effort and hard work, it will be that much harder to achieve your dreams.

6. Do you support any charities? If so, which one(s) and why is it (or they) important to you?
Every year we host a silent auction at our Christmas party and we donate all proceeds to the Red Door Family Shelter. We believe in helping families in need.

6. What is one major challenge that you’ve had to overcome in your career? How did you overcome it?
Convincing people to give our app a chance. So many people didn’t believe that our app and vision would work; no one thought consumers would be comfortable buying or purchasing big ticket items (such as a car) over a phone. Through a lot of cold calls and dealer visits, we identified those forward-thinking and risk-taking dealers who were willing to take a chance and we were able to slowly convince dealers and buyers that our app was the future of automotive sales.

7. What does the word notable mean to you?
Becoming part of vernacular.

Mark Endras
