Manitoba Teen Delivers Worst Excuse Ever for Going 70 km/h Over Speed Limit

It’s always good to have a list of excuses in your back pocket should you need to weasel out of a dire situation with some dignity left intact.

This is something we learn as we swing the ropes of life.

Perhaps it’s no wonder then that a Manitoba teen, just 16 years old, managed to concoct one of the worst excuses of all time when he was pulled over for speeding last week.

Asked to explain himself after clocking in at 170 km/h in a 100 zone – in a Camaro, no less – the teen told the cop he desperately needed to use a bathroom after eating too many hot wings. Look, buddy, we’ve all been there. But that’s an excuse best used when you need to disappear for 30 minutes on a date, not while you’re defending your actions behind the wheel.

Authorities responded to the teen’s justification by slapping him with a $1,169 fine – $966 for speeding and $203 for driving without a supervising driver – as well as 12 demerit points. The demerit points add a $1,400 premium on his driver’s license. Manitoba Public Insurance will now decide if he will also have his license suspended.

Manitoba Police called it a #noexcuses approach:

To be honest, it’s a pretty tame punishment for speeding more than 70 km/h over the limit without a supervising driver.

Any resulting time spent off the road should be used to craft a better excuse for the next time.
