Mad for Monochrome: Embrace Black and White This Season

Even though the summer season typically calls for pretty pigments and peppy prints, monochrome seems to be one of the biggest trends around at the moment and it’s clearly here to stay. Even though the summer season typically calls for pretty pigments and peppy prints, monochrome seems to be one of the biggest trends around at the moment and it’s clearly here to stay. Opposites attract do indeed attract as designers, bloggers and trendsetters have endorsed the timeless palette from Paris to New York this season.

The plus side of this tonal trend is that now it has never been so easy to re-invent your existing wardrobe. This every-weather craze can be matched in any which way and creates a contrast to bring depth, detail and sophistication into every look.

For women, designers offer a refreshing alternative to the typical summer prints and superfluous fabrics and though the lack of colour may seem mundane, together the two shades actually offer a fresh, sporty and young look. New captivating shapes, cuts and prints were shown at Balenciaga; Victoria Beckham showed off confident, structured shapes; and Ralph Lauren offered youthful yet versatile looks by adding accessories.

Men’s designers like Jil Sander, Bottega Veneta and John Varvatos also offered their own renditions of the slick, two-tone trend.

This contrasting colour combo is a no brainer that keeps any YP looking crisp and cool. Designers this summer have positively proven that some things just look better in black and white.
