Luxury Supercar Weekend Takes Over the VanDusen Gardens

This past weekend kicked off in motor-revving style with the return of one of Vancouver’s swankiest outdoor events, Luxury Supercar Weekend, which took place at the sprawling green grounds of the VanDusen Gardens.

Things got going on Friday night at a private VIP reception held at the Fairmont Pacific Rim. The Vancouver Notable team popped by to peruse the scene (including a teaser line-up of cars displayed out front) and used it as the perfect opportunity to unwind while getting the lay of the motorized land that makes up this auto-themed event.

After event organizer (and man about town) Craig Stowe welcomed the well-heeled crowd, special guest Henrik Fisker was introduced and the party kicked into gear. Henrik is the Executive Chairman and Co-founder of Fisker Automotive, who is responsible for designing some of the world’s most iconic cars, including James Bond’s notable wheels such as the Aston Martin DB9, BMW Z8 and V8 Vantage.

With Friday serving as appetizer for the weekend ahead, we made sure to dress to the nines before heading out to check out the rest of the show at the VanDusen Gardens the following day.

This year’s event was double in size and impressiveness, with a seemingly never-ending cascade of polished chrome, colour and style blanketing the lawns of one of Vancouver’s most iconic outdoor spaces. Our Notable team took in the sleek line-up of 50 years of James Bond Cars and a plethora of Porsches before catching a bit of catwalk action – Jacqueline Conoir‘s latest fashionable offerings were on display at a late afternoon show.

We managed to meet and mingle with plenty of other well-heeled young professionals, local business owners and artists, while also bumping into a few formerly featured YPs in attendance before making our way to the VIP area. We found the perfect spot for a much deserved social pause (read: beverage) courtesy of the Sutton Place Hotel‘s pop-up lounge and chatted with Director of Sales and Marketing Kyle Matheson and staff before heading over to READ media’s space for a glass of bubbles.

Our Notable verdict: yet again, the Luxury Supercar Weekend has delivered as one of Vancouver’s top events. It’s the perfect way to take in one of the last weekends of summer and do a bit of networking while learning more about an industry so driven by passion.
