Loblaws Makes Impressive Debut in Maple Leaf Gardens

It was never really a big secret that one of Toronto’s most iconic landmarks was to be the new home of a new grocery supercentre. Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens is finally here, and it definitely lives up to all the hype. New to the public and open for only about a week, this super shopping centre does not disappoint. Now when you think Loblaws, think big, really big. The new location has everything you never thought a grocery store would have.

You may be compelled to step inside by the aroma alone, as the new Loblaws bakes fresh bread, and is the first to do so from a complete ACE Artesian Bakery. All bread is made from scratch in-store, and baked in vintage stone ovens (think homemade, nonna style). This leads us to the cheese wall. An 18-foot wall holds every kind of cheese you can think of, cut in any portion size you desire, and feel free to test the in-house cheese specialists with any cheesy inquiries.

Tired of all that shopping? Take a seat and enjoy fresh sushi, and watch as the chefs prepare your meal. Order up front, or select your choice from the display. As if you weren’t already blown away with everything the store has to offer, there is also a patisserie, serving decadent, handcrafted chocolate. Tea lovers will love the Tea Emporium, featuring a wide selection of teas along with appropriate utensils. And for the health-conscious, Loblaws introduces the livelifewell plan – in-store dieticians can help you with healthy choices, and a wall of vitamins to choose from to be at your healthiest. And finally, to add interest, there is a mural you can’t miss.

Think the well-known grocery store just took over this historical building? Think again. The store incorporates a little bit of history and nostalgia in its décor, adding a touch of vintage to its modern vibe. If you haven’t checked it out yet, we suggest you do (if not for the groceries, at least for the experience!).
