Kimye Wedding Fashion: Genuine or Marketing Scheme?

In case you missed it (which you obviously didn’t), one of the world’s most talked about couples, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, recently celebrated their extravagant wedding that spanned several cities over two days. Though the wedding has come and gone, the most enduring aspect is the fashion, which leads us to wonder: is Kim, the once club-wearing, now turned style icon’s new fashion sense genuine, or is it a brilliant branding scheme arranged by the designers and the couple? We’ve outlined the couple’s most notable looks over the course of the weekend.

1. The Bachelorette Party
Kim wore a pearl-encrusted Balmain mini dress designed by the creative director Olivier Rouseteing that reportedly retails for $20,000.

2. Pre-wedding Family Dinner in Paris
Kim stepped out for family dinner at Costes restaurant in Paris in a sexy, skin-baring, black dress.

3. Friday Luncheon
A luncheon was hosted at the home of designer Valentino Garavani just outside of Paris where nearly all Kardashian women wore Valentino’s designs.

4. Private Dinner in Paris
The couple then headed to the Palace of Versailles, once home to Marie Antoinette, for a private tour and dinner with their 120 guests where Kanye wore a sand-coloured suit and Kim donned a plunging white Maison Martin Margiela dress.

5. The Ceremony
Kimye said their vows in Florence, Italy, at a 16th-century Italian fortress called Forte di Belvedere. The bride chose a stunning, custom-made Givenchy Haute Couture dress that was created by a close friend, Ricardo Tisci. The gown featured a floral, lace overlay and cut-out panels with a sheer veil.

6. The Wedding Reception
Kim and Kanye showed off matching “Just Married” leather jackets during their wedding reception, customized by BLK DNM. Artist Wes Lang, who also designed the t-shirts for West’s recent “Yeezus” tour, painted the jackets.
