Khatsahlano! Festival to Take Over YVR’s Kitsilano Hood

Since its creation several years ago, this annual summer festival has taken W. 4th Avenue by serious storm. Now spanning more than 10 blocks, it’s a party to be reckoned with – and guaranteed to get young professionals into the seasonal groove.

This Saturday, we definitely think you ought to make your way over to the city’s West Side for some Kitsilano fun and we’ve outlined a few key reasons why Khatsahlano! ought to be your destination for the day.

First off, they’ve got more than 50 different musical acts set to perform. Watch out for the likes of indie bands such as Rich Home, Evy Jane, No Sinner, Skye Wallace, Lie, Rococode, The Bonitos, Rykka, Coldwater Road and Rolla Olak to get you dancing in the street.

These artists will have plenty of space to call home – Khatsahlano has upped the ante and increased its size to include 12 different stages.

Music aside, another reason you ought to cycle or walk your way over to Kits is the huge number of participating local vendors who’ll be onsite showcasing their wares. All 80,000 of them will be setting up shop, making West 4th the best shopping mecca we can think of.

Be sure to peruse the goods also available at the pop-up street marketplaces, which will be strategically placed throughout the festival grounds with different crafters, unique designers and artisanal goods.

In between all the shopping and bopping, you’ll likely work up an appetite. Khatsahlano has that covered too, with a record number of participating food vendors and restaurants ready to feed you. We hear there will be some interactive contests (Trattoria is hosting a meatball eating contest at their location). Mmm… things could get messy!

Khatsahlano! Festival gets underway this Saturday, July 13th, starting at 11am until 8pm and is free to attend. Enough said.
