Just Opened: The Oxley

In a large painted-red brick home on Yorkville Avenue rests the newly-opened The Oxley, the sister restaurant to British fine pub The Queen and Beaver. Featuring an upscale English menu, The Oxley is sure to add some much needed variation to the Yorkville neighbourhood.

English cuisine, or more specifically contemporary and classy takes on English cuisine, is becoming a la mode in the city. (Look to The Grove and The Bristol Yard for more examples.) The Oxley’s menu is nothing if but drool-inducing: Guinea Fowl with Chanterelles and Ramson; Venison Sausage with Ale Onion Gravy; Squab with Rhubarb-Pippall Chutney; and the list goes on. The Oxley is even in-tune with the trend of family-style dinners, offering the Saddle of Yearling Lamb with Roasted Fennel for six to share.

The Oxley’s prices are decidedly Yorkville, however given the restaurateurs’ track record with The Queen and Beaver, we can’t fault them. Their attention to detail in their cuisine is highly-commendable. In a city like Toronto, so overrun with Italian cuisine and Asian restaurants, it’s exciting to have more varied establishments opening doors to bring different cultures to the masses.

Ladies and Gents, get ready for some delicious cuisine courtesy The Oxley. PS They have a back patio…and a front patio that just opened yesterday.
