Michael Kors’ new flagship location on Bloor Street opens today, and while a new locale isn’t often reason to get excited (except if you’re fashion-frenzied and the new spot is uber-convenient), this Michael Kors has some notable characteristics that sets it aside from its sister shops.
For starters, being on Bloor Street allots this Michael Kors location the license to carry some of the higher end merch you won’t find at other stores, like coats with real shearling vs. the faux material you’ll find elsewhere. This spot is also the first in Canada to receive Michael Kors’ jewelry collection, which boasts some beautiful pieces that are all decidedly affordable – the most expensive items are priced around the $500 mark.
Exclusive to the Michael Kors Bloor Street location – nowhere else in Canada will you find these – are the real crocodile skin purses, only 100 of which have been made worldwide, and all are individually numbered inside – you’re looking at about $6,000 for these beauties.
The interior is similar to other Michael Kors’ locations, with white walls and shelves accenting the craftsmanship of the shoes, accessories, bags, and clothes. Granted, it’s beautiful and bright and lets the merchandise stand out, but it would be nice to see some more ‘wow’ factor in the shop.In any case, the Bloor Street Michael Kors location is sure to please the Yorkville crowd, and those who want to shop along the strip but find their wallets a little too light to head into Prada or Louis Vuitton.
