Junior Brings Filipino Flavor to Griffintown

October 29th. Mark that down foodies.

Yes indeed, Griffintown has another culinary resident on its bustling Notre Dame strip.

Junior (named as a nod to the ubiquitous boy’s name throughout the Philippines), will be opening its doors next week bringing a taste of back home from the Philippines in the form of a “carinderia,” which if you don’t know, are the best eateries found in open-air markets in the Philippines.

The venture is a collaboration of four talented Filipino-Canadians: award winning international DJ & Co-founder/owner of club Peopl, Jojoflores and his brother DJ Toddy Flores, along with Dr. Julian Somera and David Pendon.

What can you expect?

How about flavours of home-style Filipino cooking in a lineup of classic dishes that include pork adobo, lumpia, palabok, and fried ukoy.

The décor was inspired by the bustling markets of Makati, Iloilo and Cebu, experience by all four partner’s family trips to their parent’s homeland. Artist Gene Pendon, painted the tables and panels that frame the room with bright colors and transport you to a place far away.

Drinks are also on the menu. Clearly.

Junior has you covered with a short list of natural wines by the glass and Quebec microbrews will be continually renewed by sommelier David Pendon.

And the Griffintown food hustle grows…
