Jules Bistro Celebrates a Taste of Parisian Summer in Gastown

As busy young professionals, it’s easy to chase after the latest and greatest (read: newest) spots that constantly pop up around the city. There’s certainly no shortage of them, that’s for sure. Not all stand the test of time or live up to the buzz, so it’s great to know that happening hubs like Jules Bistro are unwavering in solid offerings and cool factor.

Though the weather was muggy and a hint of rain might have tempered the mood elsewhere, the same can’t be said for the well-attended party we walked into at 216 Abbott. An eclectic mix of attendees happily sat chatting beneath a handful of umbrella-covered tables as an assortment of light bites were passed around.

We made our way inside and to the heart of the social action: a room already bustling with an eclectic mix of characters. Artists and designers mixed with bankers, while writers rubbed elbows with marketing pros hamming it up for photographers out in force.

Featuring a snug 50-seat capacity inside, this stylish bistro expertly embodies a flare for Parisian charm right down to the décor, artwork and tasteful shabby-chic seating. It’s a space put to good use (and perfect for parties of all sizes) that begs for free-flowing conversation fuelled by maybe one too many glasses…

Speaking of wine, Jules Bistro has a well-crafted list heavy on BC and (you guessed it) French. Those more inclined to cocktail it up will find no shortage of classic and new creations. Or you can just ask for them to surprise you.

Family owned and operated, Jules Bistro is open for lunch and dinner as well as weekend brunch, and we had the chance to snack on a selection from both menus, sampling mini quiches, pizza, croquet-monsieur, savoury tarts and more.

Notable tip: YPs on the hunt for their next happy hour haunt will want to note that Jules Bistro offers 30% off their entire wine list every day from 3-5pm.
