Jon Stewart’s New Show Could Be on the Air Before the U.S. Election

Former Daily Show host and recent animal sanctuary founder Jon Stewart just can’t stay away from the small screen.

While we’ve known for a while about his four-year production deal with HBO, it seems like he’ll be back on the air as early as this year.

HBO programming chief Casey Bloys says that Stewart is creating an “animated parody of a cable news network with an on Onion-like portal,” according to Variety.

Bloys also revealed that Stewart has started an animation studio and was working with 3D graphics company Otoy on the project. He added that the arrangement would allow Stewart to “comment in real time with what’s happening during the day’s news events” and “allow him to respond fairly quickly.”

Part television show and part digital content, the as-yet-untitled Jon Stewart project could launch as early as September or October – hopefully before the U.S. election.

And after his epic takedown of Trump on Colbert’s Late Show reminded us all of Stewart’s brilliance, this news could not come at a better time.
