At Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, your selfies with sea creatures can now come with a side of jazz and drinks.
That’s because every second Friday of the month, the venue hosts its “Friday Night Jazz” events.
Meaning, in addition to all the visual stimuli, interactive features, and subsequent Instagram ops, your visit to the aquarium includes a cash bar (with drink prices that are less than your local hotspot) and a quality live jazz band. Of course, all of the exhibits remain open to navigate – drink in hand.
Held from 7-11pm, the night begins as a child-friendly, family-filled evening and ends as a young professional-filled chance to mingle over some seriously quality jazz.
Last week’s jazz superstars, Melodious Vibes, had guests singing along as they found prime pieces of real estate in front of the stage or looked down from the building’s upper level.
If you’re in the market for some quality time with the niece and nephew, Friday Night Jazz nights ensure an enjoyable experience for both you and the kids as you explore the sea creatures housed within the building’s walls. If your niece or nephew are music-lovers, they can join the dance party of other kids in front of the band during the early part of the evening (this is where you sip your wine).
The evening also makes for a great date option – either before or after dinner.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again; the best dates are those that facilitate interaction and discussion. At the aquarium, you’ll find no shortage of talking points. And the drinks and jazz lend a sophisticated air to the fish faces you’ll clearly be making in photos and in front of the massive tanks.
Of course, the evening also makes for a far-from-typical way to kick off a night on the town with the guys or ladies.
The next Friday Night Jazz event takes place on Friday, July 10.
